UTZ Certified is one of the largest programs for responsibly produced coffee, tea and cocoa in the world, working across all continents with leading brands and retailers, such as Mars, Ahold, IKEA, D.E Master Blenders 1753, Migros, Tchibo and Nestlé. UTZ Certified is headquartered in Amsterdam and works closely with its partner network in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Since UTZ Certified is expanding, we are looking to hire a: Standards & Certification Officer Cocoa The Standards & Certification department is the ‘guardian angel’ of the UTZ requirements and vision. The S&C team develops UTZ sustainability criteria and manages the UTZ certification program, in close dialogue with internal and external stakeholders. As Standards & Certification Officer Cocoa you are responsible for the cocoa part of the S&C program and work in close collaboration with the bigger S&C and cocoa team within UTZ. Your main focus is on certificate handling and problem solving in the process of cocoa certification. You will have frequent contact with certification bodies as well as supply chain actors. You are an accurate professional, can handle multiple priorities and deadlines well and excel in a dynamic, demanding and international context. RESPONSIBILITIES • Active support of implementation of the Cocoa Code of Conduct and Chain of Custody standards, including contact with both internal and external parties; • Certificate handling, implement and monitor the international UTZ certification procedures through the Good Inside Portal (GIP), our traceability system; • Training of certification bodies on code criteria, both preparation of and giving training; • Further develop the global UTZ certification procedures and processes for cocoa • Participation in the multi-stakeholder sustainability standard development dialogue with external parties. • Any other related task the S&C Manager may assign to you. The S&C Officer Cocoa reports to the Standards and Certification Manager. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS • MSc in international business, supply chain management, sustainability or related field; • Min. 5 years of relevant work experience in supply chains, trading, market dynamics and the various needs and interests is a must; • Preferably also experience in auditing and certification and a strong understanding of the issues therein; • Knowledge of cocoa production and sustainability challenges is a must; • Experience with multi-stakeholder processes; • Work experience in (sub)tropical countries and in the development sector is a plus; • Result oriented; • Analytical; • Self-managing; • Team player, with sensitivity and excellent intercultural skills; • A good eye for detail; • Fluency in English and French is a must. Knowledge (verbal and written) of Spanish or Portuguese is a plus; • Willingness to travel for business approximately six times per year. Employment is based upon 40 hours/week. The position is based in Amsterdam and is open to applicants of all nationalities.
