CocoaCONNECT has a new focus! We will highlight one theme with several linked topics each month to get a full picture of the cocoa chain and it’s complexities. For example, sustainability, environment, demography and consumers are theme’s that will be covered.
We will actively post this theme’s and its topics at our cocoaCONNECT website, our Facebook- and our Twitter- account, so keep looking out for a post from cocoaCONNECT. Do you have any great ideas for a new theme or topic?
This month, the demography of the cocoa industry will be highlighted at cocoaCONNECT! We want to link gender to children, youth, communities etc. to get a broader perspective of the characteristics of cocoa farming with regard to its demography.
Following the Oxfam Novib campaign about gender equality in the cocoa industry, we want to look at the fair distribution of cocoa in the chain with regard to women and men. But, to get a more complete image of the situation, we think it is also important to look at other factors that are linked to both cocoa and gender. For example, children (labour), youth, the future, the community etc.
