To share, meet and learn for sustainable cocoa

farmers & production

There is a growing concern that cocoa supply will reduce in the future. Not because there is no demand for cocoa products but because being a cocoa farmer is not perceived as a lucrative business.

A sustainable cocoa economy requires that a family farm receives incentives to make on-farm investments and earns enough income with cocoa production. Technologies, services, organization can help to achieve this.

Under this theme you can find information about topics related to the production on cocoa farms, for example acces to land and markets, diversitfication and green production.

Food for thought

In 2012 KIT and the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana published a paper on incentives for sustainable cocoa production in Ghana.
