There are several guidelines and policies that private sector players can ascribe to, showcasing their sustainable approach. For example, companies have Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies, or they attribute to ISO guidelines or OECD watch. These are voluntary guidelines for companies to strengthen their ‘sustainable’ profile.
Within sustainable cocoa, a vast number of Dutch industry players together with knowledge institutes, the ministry of economic affairs and others signed an agreement to become a 100% sustainable cocoa country in 2020.
