To share, meet and learn for sustainable cocoa

future cocoa farmers

The average age of a cocoa farmer in West Africa is over 50, while the average life expectancy is not much higher. Who will be the next generation of cocoa farmers?

To guarantee a sustainable supply of cocoa in the future, the profession of cocoa farming needs to be attractive for the new generations, both for young males and females. To avoid migration of young people to urban areas it is important that also other (off-farm) labour opportunities are being realized in rural areas.
